The Trace was born during my time as a sniper in Iraq. I was asked to create a design for our sniper team. Since I was the creative one, we decided I would take on the challenge. The first design had to reflect seven different opinions, so it never truly felt like mine. That’s when I decided to invest in a personal design that represented my own vision.
Wearing it made me realize something: other sniper teams might want this on clothing too. I reached out to groups in Germany, England, and Belgium, and the response was overwhelming, they wanted it on clothing as well. Soon after, I created a new design for our combat lifesavers and medics whom I knew personally, it was an instant success. The costs were quickly covered, and it was clear this idea had real potential.
As demand grew, I built a website and needed a name. I chose The Trace; the visible air disturbance you can sometimes follow behind a bullet through optics. A true symbol of the sniper world.
But I didn’t build this alone. Along the way, I met people who shared the same vision and passion, talented individuals who were great at what theyre doing. Together, we achieved things rarely seen in the Netherlands or even across Europe. We set the bar high, and I am truly grateful for the people who have been and are part of this journey.
Today, The Trace has grown far beyond what started as a personal project. Our designs are worn in over 50 countries worldwide, and we continue to grow every day.
